Austria returned to a Covid-19 lockdown on Monday morning.
People in the country are not allowed to leave home except to go to work, shop for essentials and exercise.
Thousands of people throughout the country took to the streets on Saturday to protest against the mesures measures. Some people are blaming the government for not doing more to avert the latest coronavirus wave crashing into Europe.
They are also imposing a sweeping vaccine mandate from 1 February. They join the Vatican as the only places in Europe with such a requirement.
Several countries across Europe have reintroduced curbs. Some have started to ban unvaccinated people from venues including restaurants and bars.
Not since the Covid vaccination was introduced has an EU country had to re-enter a nationwide lockdown. This decision destroys some of the earlier promises that tough virus restrictions would no longer happen.

We spoke to a number of people about the latest lockdown measures via video call. One 24 year old who lives in Vienna told us: "It's a shame and I really don't want this to happen but it's probably needed."
A 35 year old woman added: "It's a disgrace!" Her internet then appeared to crash but you could sense the anger in her voice.
